Intolerance and Learning

If we learn about different religions and realize the potential of various religions to produce good people, we can respect diversity. One thing I learned, when researching this book and I was shocked about this discovery, was how much religions resemble each other. Ignorance leads believers to think that their religion is the only correct way to think and everyone else is wrong. This way of thinking is one of the ways that religion can be dangerous by claims of absolute truth and blind obedience. In history as long as there has been contact between different religious traditions, there has been misunderstanding and conflict. Once we know about religions other than our own, we can develop an appreciation and respect for other beliefs.
